DRUG ARREST

(Etowah County, Alabama) One individual has been arrested with drug charges in Etowah County, according to Sheriff Jonathon Horton. 

DEONTE DELMONT JONES (24) of GADSDEN, Al is charged with Five (5) counts of Drug Trafficking (Methamphetamine) and One (1) count of Drug Trafficking (Oxycodone).    

On June 23, 2023 Agents with the Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit received information that Deonte Jones who had an active Drug Trafficking (Methamphetamine) warrant and was actively being investigated by the Drug Unit would be at a certain Apartment complex located in the East Gadsden area.  Further information led Agents to believe that he would also be in possession of a large quantity of Methamphetamine.

Acting on the information provided, Agents located Deonte Jones and effected the arrest for the Drug Trafficking warrant. During the course of the arrest, Agents recovered just over a half pound of Methamphetamine, Trafficking weight of Oxycodone pills, and a small quantity of Marijuana.  This arrest followed a two-month investigation that consisted of Drug Sales from Deonte Jones.  During the course of the investigation over 2.5 pounds of Methamphetamine was recovered. DEONTE DELMONT JONES was arrested and is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a $275,000.00 cash bond.

This investigation is still ongoing and there could be more State and Federal charges related to this case.     

The Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit, Etowah County Sheriff's Office, Gadsden Police Department, the FBI North Alabama Criminal Enterprise Task Force, and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force participated in the case.
