Drug Arrest

Wednesday March 13, 2024

(Etowah County, Alabama).  Two individuals have been arrested with drug charges in Etowah County, according to Sheriff Jonathon Horton. 

Joey Ray Quinton (55) and Joseph Michael Jenkins (40) of Albertville, Alabama have been charged with one count of Trafficking Methamphetamine and one count of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Synthetic Marijuana).    

On March 9, 2024 Officer Gray with the Glencoe Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a White Chevrolet Silverado occupied with two individuals at the intersection of U.S. Highway 431 and North College Street.  During the course of the stop Officer Gray detected that both subjects appeared to be extremely nervous. 

K9 Officer Richey arrived on scene with his K9 partner "DEXTER".  Officer Richey had Dexter perform an open-air sniff of the vehicle in which it alerted.

During the search of the vehicle Officers recovered approximately two pounds of Methamphetamine and a large quantity of Synthetic Marijuana.

Officers then notified the Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit who responded to the scene.   

Joey Ray Quinton and Joseph Michael Jenkins were arrested and are being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a $115,000.00 cash bond.

This is an ongoing investigation and more State and Federal Charges could be filed related to this case.

The Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit, Gadsden Police Department, Etowah County Sheriff's Office, Southside Police Department, Rainbow City Police Department, and the FBI North Alabama Criminal Enterprise Task Force participated in the case.
