Drug Arrest

(Etowah County, Alabama) One individual has been arrested with drug charges in Etowah County, according to Sheriff Jonathon Horton. 

 Michael Anthony Taylor (37) of Gadsden, Al is charged with three counts of Drug Trafficking (Methamphetamine), two counts of Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), one count of Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance (Fentanyl), one count of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Fentanyl), one count of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Synthetic Marijuana), one count of Felony Eluding, and other miscellaneous traffic offenses.  

On February 22, 2024 Michael Anthony Taylor was arrested after he fled from officers with the Gadsden Police Department Street Crimes Unit.  This arrest followed a collaborative investigation including the Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit and the Gadsden Police Department Street Crimes Unit over the past several months.  The investigation stemmed from Michael Anthony Taylor distributing Methamphetamine and Fentanyl onto the streets of Etowah County.  The Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit recovered over a ½ pound of Methamphetamine, a quantity of Fentanyl, and Synthetic Marijuana from Mr. Taylor during the course of the investigation.    

Michael Anthony Taylor was arrested and is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a $100,000.00 cash bond.

This case is still ongoing and there could be more State and Federal charges related to this case.   

The Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit, Gadsden Police Department, Etowah County Sheriff's Office, Southside Police Department, Rainbow City Police Department, and the FBI North Alabama Criminal Enterprise Task Force participated in the case.
