Attempted Traffic Stop Leads to Chase
ATTEMPTED TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO CHASE
(Etowah County, Alabama) Two individuals have been taken into custody after a vehicle chase ended in a minor wreck this afternoon, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.
Darrell Scott Firestone, 30, of Ragland, and Amanda Michelle Sims, 29, of Piedmont, led Etowah County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Ben Greene on a six minute chase in the Ballplay community.
Investigator Greene was attempting to make a traffic stop, near the intersection of Tom Cat Road and Thornton Lakes Road, on a gray, Chevrolet 1500 truck.
One of the individuals tossed an object out of the vehicle before the chase ended on Centre Road. Deputies are currently search for the item.
Sims, whose driver’s license is expired, ran on foot when the truck came to a stop. She was quickly found and taken into custody. Firestone was driving the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and apprehended at the scene of the accident.
An investigation is currently ongoing. No other information is known at this time. Additional details will be released as it becomes available.
